The SMBJ48A is a 600W transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode from Littelfuse Inc., designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. It has a reverse standoff voltage of 48V and a clamping voltage of 77.4V at a peak pulse current of 7.8A.
Electrical specifications include a minimum breakdown voltage of 53.3V and maximum of 58.9V. The device is unidirectional with one channel and uses Zener technology. It offers excellent clamping capability and low incremental surge resistance. Typical leakage current is less than 1μA for breakdown voltages above 12V.
