The Bourns SMBJ28A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode designed for general purpose surge and ESD protection. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 28V and a maximum clamping voltage of 45.4V at a peak pulse current of 13.3A. The device can handle 600W of peak pulse power dissipation under a 10/1000µs waveform.
This TVS diode is based on Zener technology and is housed in a compact DO-214AA (SMB) surface mount package. It is suitable for automated assembly and is rated for operation over a junction temperature range of -55°C to +150°C. The SMBJ series is designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning, inductive load switching, and electrostatic discharge.
