The SMBJ20A is a 600W transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode designed for unidirectional protection against voltage transients. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 20V and a maximum clamping voltage of 32.4V at a peak pulse current of 18.6A. The device is rated for a minimum peak pulse power of 600W (TP=1ms) and can handle a peak forward surge current of 100A (8.3ms single half sine wave). Steady state power dissipation is 5W at TL=75°C.
This TVS diode is suitable for general purpose applications such as ESD protection, EFT protection, and surge protection per IEC 61000-4-2, -4-4, and -4-5 standards as referenced in the datasheet. It is not intended for power line protection.
The SMBJ20A is offered in a surface mount DO-214AA (SMB) package, also known as DO-214AA (SMBJ). It is rated for an operating temperature range of -65°C to 150°C (junction). The device is RoHS compliant and has a maximum forward voltage of 3.5V at 50A.
