The SMBJ170CA is a bidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode designed for surge and ESD protection in general purpose applications. It features a reverse standoff voltage (VRWM) of 170V and a maximum clamping voltage of 275V at a peak pulse current of 2.2A (10/1000µs waveform). The device can dissipate 600W of peak pulse power (10/1000µs) and offers a fast response time of less than 5 picoseconds for bidirectional operation.
This TVS diode is housed in a compact DO-214AA (SMB) surface mount package, suitable for automated pick-and-place assembly. It supports an operating junction temperature range of -55°C to +150°C and a storage temperature range of -55°C to +150°C. The device is RoHS compliant and meets IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection Level 4 requirements.
