The SMBJ12CA is a 600W bidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. With a reverse standoff voltage of 12V and a clamping voltage of 19.9V, it provides robust protection for I/O interfaces, VCC bus lines, and other vulnerable circuits.
This device offers a peak pulse power capability of 600W (10/1000μs waveform) and can handle peak pulse currents up to 30.2A. The fast response time, typically less than 1.0 ps from 0V to VBR min, ensures rapid clamping of transient overvoltages. The bidirectional configuration allows protection for both positive and negative transients.
The SMBJ12CA is housed in a compact DO-214AA (SMB) surface mount package, suitable for automated assembly and space-constrained designs. It operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C, with excellent thermal characteristics (junction-to-lead thermal resistance of 20°C/W).
Compliance and safety features include RoHS3, REACH, Halogen Free, and UL 497B recognition. The device meets MSL Level 1 for moisture sensitivity and has a flammability rating of UL 94 V-0, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial, telecom, and consumer applications.
