The SMAJ7.0A is a 400W peak pulse power unidirectional TVS diode from Littelfuse, part of the SMAJ series. It is designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. This device is housed in a compact DO-214AC (SMA) surface mount package, suitable for space-constrained PCB layouts.
The SMAJ7.0A provides 12V clamping voltage and 33.3A peak pulse current under a 10/1000µs waveform. It features a fast response time of less than 1.0ps from 0V to breakdown voltage and meets IEC 61000-4-2 ESD immunity with 30kV air and contact discharge. The diode operates over a junction temperature range of -65°C to 150°C with thermal resistance of 30°C/W junction-to-lead and 120°C/W junction-to-ambient.
This device is ideal for protecting I/O interfaces, VCC bus lines, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics applications. It is RoHS3 compliant, lead-free, and halogen free as verified by the datasheet, with MSL Level 1 per J-STD-020. The unidirectional configuration provides effective transient suppression for DC and low-frequency lines.
