The SMAJ51A is a 400W peak pulse power unidirectional TVS diode from the SMAJ series by Littelfuse Inc. It is designed to protect sensitive electronic circuits from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. The device features a reverse standoff voltage of 51V, a minimum breakdown voltage of 56.7V, and a maximum clamping voltage of 82.4V at a peak pulse current of 4.9A (10/1000µs waveform). It offers a fast response time of less than 1.0ps from 0V to breakdown voltage. The diode can handle a peak forward surge current of 60A for 8.3ms and has a maximum forward voltage of 3.5V at 25A. It operates over a junction temperature range of -65°C to 150°C and dissipates up to 3.3W on an infinite heat sink. The SMAJ51A is housed in a surface mount DO-214AC (SMA) package, making it suitable for compact PCB layouts. It also provides IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection up to 30kV (air and contact) and is suitable for protecting I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics.
