The Bourns SMAJ5.0A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor diode designed for surge and ESD protection in portable communications, computing, and video equipment. It features a working peak reverse voltage of 5.0V and a breakdown voltage of 9.2V with 5% tolerance. Rated for 400W peak pulse power dissipation (1 ms pulse) and 43.5A peak pulse current, it provides robust protection against transient events. The device offers an extremely fast response time of less than 1.0 picosecond, ensuring rapid clamping of overvoltage spikes. It is housed in a compact DO-214AC (SMA) surface mount package, suitable for automated pick-and-place assembly. The SMAJ5.0A operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to +150°C and is RoHS compliant and UL recognized (File E153537). It also meets IEC 61000-4-2 ESD (Level 4), IEC 61000-4-4 EFT, and IEC 61000-4-5 surge immunity standards.
