The SMAJ40CA-TP is a 400W bidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients induced by lightning, ESD, and other surge events. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 40V, a minimum breakdown voltage of 44.4V, and a maximum clamping voltage of 64.5V at a peak pulse current of 6.2A per 10/1000µs waveform. The device provides ±30kV ESD protection (air and contact discharge) per IEC 61000-4-2, making it suitable for data line and I/O protection.
Operating over a junction temperature range of -55°C to +175°C, this TVS diode exhibits typical thermal resistance of 20°C/W from junction to lead, 120°C/W to ambient, and 30°C/W to case.
