The SMAJ40A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor diode from Bourns, part of the SMAJ series. It is designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients induced by lightning, ESD, and other surge events.
Key electrical specifications include a reverse standoff voltage of 40V, maximum clamping voltage of 64.5V at 6.2A peak pulse current. It can handle 400W peak pulse power (1ms) and 40A forward surge current (8.3ms). Steady state power dissipation is 1.0W at 75°C lead temperature.
