The Littelfuse SMAJ170A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode designed for general-purpose circuit protection. It provides a reverse standoff voltage of 170 V and a maximum clamping voltage of 275 V under a 10/1000µs waveform, with a peak pulse power rating of 400 W. The device responds to transient events in less than 1.0 ps (typical) and meets IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection up to 30 kV (air and contact).
This TVS diode is housed in a compact DO-214AC (SMA) surface-mount package, suitable for automated assembly. It features glass passivated junction for reliability and operates across a junction temperature range of -65°C to 150°C. The device is RoHS3 compliant, halogen free, and has an MSL rating of 1 (unlimited).
Typical applications include protecting I/O interfaces, VCC buses, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronic devices. The SMAJ170A is a single-channel unidirectional device with a peak forward surge current rating of 60 A (8.3ms).
