The Vishay Dale SMAJ16CA-E3/5A is a surface-mount Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode designed for protecting sensitive electronics from voltage transients. It features a low profile DO-214AC (SMA) package, making it ideal for automated placement.
This TVS diode offers a 400W peak pulse power capability with a 10/1000 μs waveform. It has a working voltage (VWM) range of 5.0V to 188V and a breakdown voltage (VBR) range of 6.40V to 231V. The clamping voltage (VC) is 26V at a peak pulse current (IPPM) of 15.4A, and it has a peak forward surge current (IFSM) of 40A.
Typical applications include protection against voltage transients induced by inductive load switching and lighting on ICs, MOSFETs, and signal lines in consumer, computer, industrial, automotive, and telecommunication systems. The device operates over a wide temperature range of -55°C to 150°C (TJ).
It is available in both unidirectional and bidirectional configurations. The SMAJ16CA-E3/5A is RoHS3 compliant and meets MSL Level 1.
