SMAJ13A

The Bourns SMAJ13A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode designed for general-purpose surge and ESD protection in compact electronic systems. It is part of the SMAJ series, offering a working peak reverse voltage of 13V and a maximum clamping voltage of 21.5V at the rated peak pulse current of 18.6A. The device delivers a minimum peak pulse power dissipation of 400W (TP=1ms) and features a fast response time of less than 1.0 picosecond from 0V to breakdown.

This TVS diode is housed in an industry-standard DO-214AC (SMA) surface mount package, suitable for automated pick-and-place assembly. It supports a wide operating junction temperature range of -55°C to +150°C and has a maximum steady state power dissipation of 1.0W (at TL=75°C). The device is also rated for a peak forward surge current of 40A (8.3ms) and offers a maximum forward voltage of 3.5V at 35A.

The SMAJ13A meets IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection at Level 4 minimum, and is compliant with IEC 61000-4-4 EFT and IEC 61000-4-5 surge standards. It holds UL recognition (File E153537) and is RoHS3 compliant, making it suitable for lead-free soldering processes.
