The SMAJ12CA is a bidirectional TVS diode from Littelfuse, designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient voltage events. It offers a reverse standoff voltage of 12V and a maximum clamping voltage of 19.9V at a peak pulse current of 20.1A (10/1000µs waveform). With a peak pulse power dissipation rating of 400W, this device is suitable for I/O interface, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuit protection in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer applications.
The SMAJ12CA features a fast response time of typically less than 1.0ps from 0V to breakdown voltage, and a typical reverse leakage current of 1µA when VBR min > 12V. It is housed in a low-profile DO-214AC surface mount package, enabling compact PCB layouts. The device is rated for an operating junction temperature range of -65°C to 150°C and a storage temperature range of -65°C to 175°C. It also meets IEC-61000-4-2 ESD protection standards (30kV air, 30kV contact) and IEC-61000-4-4 EFT protection.
