The SMA6J70CA-TR is a bidirectional Zener-based transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode manufactured by STMicroelectronics. It is designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients induced by lightning, inductive load switching, and electrostatic discharge. The device features a reverse standoff voltage (VRWM) of 70V and a clamping voltage (VC) of 120V at a peak pulse current of 27A (8/20µs waveform). With a peak pulse power dissipation rating of 600W, it provides robust protection for general-purpose applications. The TVS diode is housed in a surface-mount DO-214AC (SMA) package, suitable for automated assembly. It operates over a wide temperature range of -55°C to 175°C. The bidirectional configuration allows protection for both positive and negative transients, making it ideal for AC line or data line protection where polarity is not fixed. The device is RoHS3 compliant and has an MSL of 1 (unlimited).
