The STMicroelectronics SMA6J12A-TR is a Zener-type unidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients induced by lightning, ESD, and other surge events. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 12V and a clamping voltage of 23.5V at the peak pulse current of 157A (8/20µs waveform). With a peak pulse power dissipation of 600W, it provides robust protection for general-purpose applications in power supply lines, data lines, and I/O interfaces.
This TVS diode is housed in a compact, surface-mount DO-214AC (SMA) package, making it suitable for space-constrained designs. It supports a wide operating temperature range from -55°C to 175°C, ensuring reliable performance in harsh environments. The unidirectional polarity allows it to clamp positive transients while offering low leakage current in the reverse direction.
