The SM15T56CAY is a bidirectional Zener TVS diode from STMicroelectronics designed for automotive applications. It provides protection against transient voltage spikes with a reverse standoff voltage of 48V and a maximum clamping voltage of 100V at peak pulse current. The device can handle up to 100A (8/20µs) peak pulse current and 1500W peak pulse power.
This TVS diode is surface-mount packaged in a DO-214AB (SMC) case, suitable for automated assembly. It operates over a wide temperature range of -40°C to 150°C (junction). The device is not designed for power line protection, making it ideal for signal line protection in automotive electronics.
The Zener technology ensures fast response and reliable clamping. The bidirectional configuration allows protection of symmetrical lines. With its high surge capability, the SM15T56CAY is suitable for protecting sensitive circuits from ESD and lightning-induced transients.
