The SKY85728-11 from Skyworks Solutions is a highly integrated 5 GHz front-end module (FEM) specifically designed for high-power 802.11ac applications. This module incorporates a 5 GHz power amplifier (PA), a 5 GHz low-noise amplifier (LNA) with bypass functionality, and a 5 GHz single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) transmit/receive (T/R) switch.
Key electrical characteristics include a transmit gain of 32 dB and a receive gain exceeding 15 dB. The output power can reach +22.5 dBm at -35 dB DEVM for HT80, MCS9, and 5V operation, or +23 dBm at -30 dB DEVM for HT40, MCS7, and 5V operation. An integrated power detector is included for closed-loop power control.
This device is supplied in a compact 24-pin Quad Flat No-Lead (QFN) package measuring 3 x 5 mm, which can significantly reduce front-end board space.
