SI7210-B-13-IM2 Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The Si7210-B-13-IM2 from Silicon Labs is a Hall effect magnetic sensor IC designed for precise position and temperature sensing. It integrates a Hall effect element, a low-noise analog amplifier, a 13-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and a digital signal processing (DSP) unit for temperature and offset drift compensation.

This sensor features a wide operating voltage range of 1.71V to 5.5V and a high-precision 13-bit signal path for accurate measurements. The adjustable sensing range includes a standard offering of ±20mT, with an output bandwidth up to 20 kHz. The device communicates via a bidirectional I2C interface, allowing full configurability of operate and release points, and enabling the reading of 13-bit magnetic field strength data.

Designed for efficiency, the Si7210 family offers very low power consumption, including a sleep mode current of only 50 nA, making it suitable for battery-powered applications. The sensor provides temperature data with an accuracy of ±1°C via I2C. It is available in industry-standard packaging, specifically a surface-mount 8-DFN (1.4x1.6 mm) package.

Applications for the Si7210-B-13-IM2 include mechanical position sensing in consumer and industrial products, replacement of reed switches, fluid level measurement, speed sensing, utility meters, and control knobs.
