The Skyworks Solutions SI5338L-B06241-GM is a high-performance, low-jitter clock generator capable of synthesizing any frequency on each of its four output drivers. Utilizing patented MultiSynth™ technology, it allows for the generation of four independent clocks with 0 ppm precision, capable of replacing multiple crystal oscillators or acting as a frequency translator.
Each output clock is independently configurable to support various signal formats and supply voltages, including LVPECL, LVDS, HCSL, CMOS, and SSTL/HSTL. The device supports input references from external crystals, CMOS, SSTL/HSTL, and differential sources. It operates from a 1.8, 2.5, or 3.3 V core supply and offers independent output voltage configuration per driver.
This timing IC is designed for applications such as Ethernet switches/routers and PCIe Gen1/2/3/4 systems. It features a low phase jitter of 0.7 ps RMS typical and supports configurable spread spectrum on any output. The Si5338 is programmable via an I2C/SMBus-compatible serial interface and comes in a compact 4 x 4 mm QFN package, suitable for surface mounting.
Key features include independent frequency increment/decrement for glitchless adjustments, independent phase adjustment, and loss of lock/signal alarms. The device operates within a wide temperature range of -40 to +85 °C.
