SI3462-E01-GMR

The Si3462 from Skyworks Solutions is a single-port power management controller designed for IEEE 802.3at-compliant Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE). This controller operates autonomously, requiring no host processor interface, and supports up to 30 W maximum output power (Class 4).

Key features include a robust 3-point detection algorithm to prevent false detection events, IEEE-compliant disconnect, inrush current control, and output short-circuit protection. It also provides an LED status signal for port status indication. The device is pin-programmable to support various power levels and applications, including endpoint and mid-span configurations.

Designed for reliability, the Si3462 operates within an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It is available in an 11-Pin Quad Flat No-Lead (QFN) package with a compact 3x3 mm PCB footprint, making it suitable for space-constrained designs. Example applications include IP cameras, point-of-sale terminals, and wireless access points.

The controller can be powered from a 50 V input using a shunt regulator or from 50 V and 3.3 V power supplies. It also features 'no-classify' modes for scenarios where classification steps can be skipped, potentially reducing bill of materials components.
