The Silicon Labs SI1143-A11-GMR is a low-power, reflectance-based, infrared proximity and ambient light sensor IC featuring an I2C digital interface. This touchless sensor includes an analog-to-digital converter, integrated photodiodes, a digital signal processor, and up to three integrated infrared LED drivers with fifteen selectable drive levels.
This sensor offers excellent performance across a wide dynamic range and various light sources, including direct sunlight. It can operate under dark glass covers and provides excellent immunity to artificial and natural light flicker noise. The device supports proximity detection adjustable from under 1 cm up to 200 cm, with ranges of 50 cm (low light) and 15 cm (high light) specified for single-pulse operation. The ambient light sensor provides a dynamic range of 1 to 128 klx with a resolution of 100 mlx.
Designed for low power consumption, the SI1143-A11-GMR operates from 1.71V to 3.6V with an average current of 9 μA and a standby current of less than 500 nA. It is supplied in a compact 10-lead 2x2 mm QFN package, suitable for surface mounting. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C.
