The SGM3780YTDP14G/TR from SG Micro Corp is a highly integrated step-up DC/DC converter designed for high-power flash LEDs in portable devices like cell phone camera modules and digital still cameras. It features a fixed switching frequency of 2MHz, enabling a compact solution size with a small 1.0μH inductor.
This LED driver supports dual flash LED outputs, capable of driving up to a total of 1.5A or 0.75A per channel. It offers independent enable pins for Flash mode and Movie/Torch mode, providing flexibility in operation. The LED current for both modes is programmable via external resistors. The device boasts high efficiency, up to 90%, and includes integrated thermal regulation in Flash mode to manage IC temperature and ensure continuous maximum output current.
Protection features are built-in, including cycle-by-cycle input current limit, output over-voltage protection, LED open or short protection, and thermal shutdown protection. The SGM3780YTDP14G/TR operates over an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and is available in a Green TDFN-3x2-14L package, suitable for surface mount applications.
