The SESD5481MUT5G is a bidirectional ESD protection diode designed to protect voltage-sensitive components from electrostatic discharge (ESD) and electrical fast transients (EFT). It features a reverse working voltage of 5.0 V and a breakdown voltage range of 5.7 V to 8.0 V at 1 mA. The device provides IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection at ±20 kV (contact and air) and IEC 61000-4-4 EFT protection at 40 A (5/50 ns). With a typical capacitance of 12 pF at 1 MHz, it is suitable for high-speed data line protection.
Electrical characteristics include a maximum reverse leakage current of 1.0 µA at 5 V, a peak pulse current rating of 2 A (8/20 µs), and a response time of less than 1 ns. The clamping voltage is characterized in the datasheet (see Figures 1 and 2). Total power dissipation is 300 mW on an FR-5 board at 25°C, with a junction-to-ambient thermal resistance of 400 °C/W. The device operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to +150°C and meets MSL 1 requirements.
Packaged in an ultra-small 0201 (0603 Metric) surface mount package with body dimensions of 0.60 mm x 0.30 mm and a height of 0.3 mm, the ESD5481 is ideal for space-constrained applications such as cellular phones, MP3 players, digital cameras, and other portable electronics. The device is Pb-free, halogen-free/BFR-free, and RoHS compliant. It is supplied in tape and reel packaging with a standard quantity of 10,000 units.
