The Semtech SC1485ITSTRT is a dual output, constant-on-time synchronous buck PWM controller. It is designed for use in notebook computers and other battery-operated portable devices, offering high efficiency and fast dynamic response. The controller features independent output voltage adjustment from 0.5V to VCCA and a VBAT range of 1.8V to 25V.
Key features include resistor-programmable frequency, cycle-by-cycle current limit, digital soft-start, and over-voltage/under-voltage protection. Each controller has a separate enable and Power-Save (PSAVE) option. The integrated gate drivers provide adaptive shoot-through protection and soft switching. The device is housed in a 28-lead TSSOP package and operates within an industrial temperature range.
This controller is suitable for applications such as CPU I/O supplies, handheld terminals, PDAs, and LCD monitors. Its design allows for less output capacitance compared to competing fixed-frequency converters due to its excellent transient response. The SC1485 also supports low-side RDS(ON) sensing or sense resistor for DC current sensing.
