The SA614A is an improved monolithic low-power FM IF system from NXP Semiconductors. It integrates key components including two limiting intermediate frequency amplifiers, a quadrature detector, muting, a logarithmic received signal strength indicator (RSSI), and a voltage regulator. This system features a higher IF bandwidth of 25 MHz and temperature-compensated RSSI and limiters, enabling higher performance applications compared to previous models.
Key features include low power consumption of 3.3 mA typical and a temperature-compensated logarithmic RSSI with a 90 dB dynamic range. It provides two audio outputs, muted and unmuted, and has a low external component count, making it suitable for crystal or ceramic filters. The device exhibits excellent sensitivity, rated at 1.5 µV across input pins for 12 dB SINAD.
The SA614A is designed for applications such as cellular radio FM IF, high-performance communication receivers, and intermediate frequency amplification and detection up to 25 MHz. It is also suitable for RF level meters, spectrum analyzers, instrumentation, and FSK and ASK data receivers. The device is available in a 16-SOIC surface-mount package.
