The SA5V0CA is a bidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode from On Semiconductor (originally Fairchild Semiconductor). It is designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients by clamping overvoltage events. The device has a reverse stand-off voltage of 5.0 V and a breakdown voltage range of 6.40 V to 7.00 V at a test current of 10 mA. Maximum clamping voltage is 9.2 V at a peak pulse current of 54.3 A (10/1000 µs waveform). The diode can handle 500 W peak pulse power and 1.0 W steady-state power dissipation (0.375" lead length at 75°C). Non-repetitive forward surge current rating is 70 A (8.3 ms).
Reverse leakage current is 600 µA maximum at 5.0 V. The part is bidirectional, meaning it can protect against both positive and negative transients. Operating junction temperature range is up to 175°C, with storage from -65°C to 175°C. The device features a glass passivated junction for reliability and fast response time (typically less than 5 ns for bidirectional).
The SA5V0CA is offered in a DO-204AC (DO-15) axial leaded package, designed for through-hole mounting. The package includes a color band for cathode identification on unidirectional versions only; bidirectional devices have no band. This part is suitable for general purpose circuit protection applications where a 5V stand-off voltage is required.
