The SA5.0A is a 500W peak pulse power transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode from Littelfuse, designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 5.0V and a maximum clamping voltage of 9.2V at a peak pulse current of 55.4A (10/1000μs waveform).
The device offers fast response time of less than 1.0 ps from 0V to breakdown voltage, and provides ESD protection up to 30kV (air and contact) per IEC 61000-4-2. It is a unidirectional zener-type TVS with a single channel, suitable for general-purpose applications such as I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics.
The SA5.0A is packaged in a through-hole DO-204AC (DO-15) axial leaded package with matte tin lead-free plating. It is RoHS compliant and halogen free, with an operating temperature range of -65°C to 175°C (junction). The device is also rated for peak forward surge current of 70A (8.3ms) and has a steady state power dissipation of 3.0W.
