The SA45ARL is a 500W peak power transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode from ON Semiconductor, designed to protect sensitive electronic circuits from high-voltage transients. It is a unidirectional Zener-type suppressor with a working peak reverse voltage of 45V and a maximum clamping voltage of 72.7V at a peak pulse current of 6.9A.
This device offers a fast response time of typically less than 1.0 ns and an ESD rating of Class 3 (>16 kV) per the Human Body Model. It can handle a forward surge current of 70A and has a steady state power dissipation of 3.0W. The operating temperature range is -55°C to 150°C, with storage up to 175°C.
The SA45ARL is housed in a DO-204AC (DO-15) axial lead package, suitable for through-hole mounting. The leads are solderable and the maximum lead temperature for soldering is 260°C for 10 seconds. The device is marked with a cathode band for polarity identification.
Typical applications include general-purpose transient protection in communication systems, power supplies, industrial controls, and consumer electronics. The series is UL 497B recognized for isolated loop circuit protection.
