The SA20CA is a bidirectional TVS diode from Littelfuse Inc. designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients caused by lightning and other transient events. It is part of the SA series offering 500W peak pulse power capability at 10/1000µs waveform.
Key electrical characteristics include a reverse standoff voltage of 20V, typical breakdown voltage of 22.2V at 1mA test current, and clamping voltage of 32.4V at 15.7A peak pulse current. The device features a fast response time of less than 1 picosecond and low incremental surge resistance. Typical leakage current is less than 1µA for breakdown voltages above 13V.
The SA20CA is housed in a through-hole DO-15 (DO-204AC) axial leaded package with matte tin lead-free plating. It is halogen free and RoHS compliant. Operating junction temperature range is -65°C to 175°C, with steady-state power dissipation of 3.0W at 75°C lead temperature. The plastic package is flammability rated V-0 per UL.
Typical applications include protection of I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics. The device meets IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection (30kV air/contact) and IEC 61000-4-4 EFT protection.
