The SA12A is a 500W unidirectional TVS diode from Littelfuse designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient voltage events. It features a Zener technology with a reverse standoff voltage of 12V and a clamping voltage of 19.9V at a peak pulse current of 25.6A (10/1000μs waveform).
The device offers fast response time of less than 1ps from 0V to breakdown voltage minimum, making it suitable for protecting I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronic applications. It provides ESD protection per IEC 61000-4-2 (30kV air/contact) and EFT protection per IEC 61000-4-4.
The SA12A is housed in a DO-204AC (DO-15) axial leaded package with through-hole mounting. It is RoHS3 compliant, halogen free, and has a matte tin lead-free finish. The device operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 175°C and has a steady state power dissipation of 3.0W on an infinite heat sink at TL=75°C.
