The S2B is a general purpose rectifier diode from On Semiconductor, part of the S2 family. It is rated for a maximum reverse voltage of 100V and an average rectified forward current of 2A. The diode features a low forward voltage drop of 1.15V maximum at 2A, and a reverse leakage current of 1µA at 100V. It has a typical reverse recovery time of 2µs, classifying it as a standard recovery rectifier (>500ns). The junction capacitance is 30pF at 4V and 1MHz.
The device is designed for surface mount assembly in a DO-214AA (SMB) package. It can handle non-repetitive peak forward surge currents up to 50A (8.3ms half-sine wave). The operating junction temperature range is -65°C to +150°C, with a power dissipation of 2.35W and thermal resistance of 53°C/W junction-to-ambient on FR-4 PCB.
Typical applications include power supplies, AC to DC rectification, and bypass diodes. The diode is UL certified (UL #E258596) and the datasheet indicates it is Pb-Free and RoHS compliant. An automotive grade variant (NRVS2B) is also available.
