The Momentive RTV162 is a one-component, ready-to-use electronic grade silicone sealant. It cures to a tough, resilient silicone rubber upon exposure to atmospheric moisture at room temperature, releasing an alcohol vapor during the process.
This sealant is white and has a spreadable paste consistency with a viscosity of 380 poise. It exhibits excellent electrical insulation properties and is non-corrosive to electronic metals, including copper and brass. The RTV162 offers good resistance to moisture, dust, dirt, UV, ozone, and chemicals.
Key physical properties include a Shore A hardness of 35, a tensile strength of 38.2 kg/cm², and an elongation of 400%. It has a peel strength of 7.2 kg/cm and a dielectric strength of 18 kv/mm. The operating temperature range is from -60°C to 205°C for long periods, and up to 260°C for short durations. The tack-free time is 4 hours.
UL recognition is noted for RTV160, RTV162, and RTV167 under UL File No. E-36952.
