R-78E5.0-1.0

The R-78E5.0-1.0 is a switching regulator module from Recom Power designed as a drop-in replacement for linear regulators. It accepts a wide input voltage range of 8V to 28V and delivers a regulated 5V output at up to 1A. With a high efficiency of 93% at minimum input voltage and 85% at maximum input voltage, no heatsink is required, saving board space. The module operates at a switching frequency of 330kHz and provides output ripple and noise of 120mVp-p maximum (with 100nF MLCC across output). Output voltage accuracy is ±3% typical, with line regulation of ±1% and load regulation of ±1.5%.

The converter includes continuous short circuit protection with automatic recovery. Quiescent current is 1.5mA typical, and no minimum load is required. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C, making it suitable for commercial ITE applications. The part is packaged in a compact 3-SIP through-hole module measuring 11.6mm x 8.5mm x 10.4mm. It is RoHS3 compliant, REACH unaffected, and certified to IEC/EN60950-1. The warranty period is 3 years.
