The Vicor QPO-2LZ is an output ripple attenuator (SiP) that utilizes active filtering to significantly reduce supply output ripple and noise (PARD). It offers over 30 dB of attenuation from 1 kHz to 500 kHz, and over 20 dB down to 50 Hz. This device operates with an input voltage range of 0.3 Vdc to 5.5 Vdc and can support load currents as high as 20 A.
The QPO-2LZ is biased through its VAUX input, which requires a voltage range of 7 V to 12 V with a minimum difference of 7 V between VAUX and QPO OUT. Output regulation can be maintained using either remote sense or trim adjustment of the power supply. The architecture is designed to improve transient response and ensure quiet point-of-load regulation when used with switching power supplies. It is available in a low-profile 25 x 25 x 4.5 mm LGA package.
Applications for the QPO-2LZ include distributed point-of-load power systems and sensors requiring low noise power. Its closed-loop control enhances the transient response of DC-DC converters and power supplies, potentially reducing the number of required output capacitors for dynamic loads.
