The PESD0402-140 is a bidirectional Polymer ESD protection device from Littelfuse. It is designed to protect sensitive electronic circuits from electrostatic discharge (ESD) events, particularly in high-frequency applications such as HDMI 1.3, USB 2.0, and other high-speed data interfaces.
Key electrical specifications include a reverse standoff voltage of 14 V (maximum), a typical trigger voltage of 250 V (TLP at 1kV), and a typical clamping voltage of 40 V (30ns after pulse initiation). It features an ultra-low typical capacitance of 0.25 pF at 1MHz, which minimizes signal distortion in high data rate circuits. Leakage current is typically 0.01 µA with a maximum of 10 µA at rated voltage. The device offers fast response time of less than 1 ns and meets IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 ESD protection.
The PESD0402-140 is suitable for protecting I/O ports on HDMI interfaces, LCD and plasma TVs, portable video players, USB 2.0, DVI, and antenna switches. Its low capacitance and low clamping voltage make it ideal for high-speed data lines where signal integrity is critical. The device is bidirectional, providing protection for both positive and negative ESD strikes.
The device is housed in a compact 0402 (1005 Metric) surface mount package, making it suitable for space-constrained designs. It is RoHS compliant, lead-free, and halogen-free. The operating temperature range is -55°C to 125°C (junction temperature).
