PCA9848PWJ

The PCA9848PWJ from NXP Semiconductors is an octal bidirectional translating switch designed for I2C-bus applications. It features an Fm+ I2C-bus interface and allows for the selection of any or all of its eight downstream channels via a programmable control register. This capability enables multiple devices with the same I2C-bus address to coexist on the same bus and helps in separating heavily loaded I2C-buses.

The device operates at ultra-low voltages, down to 0.8 V, making it suitable for interfacing with next-generation CPUs. It supports voltage level translation between 0.8 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, and 3.3 V buses without additional protection, with external pull-up resistors setting the desired voltage level for each channel. All I/O pins are 3.6 V tolerant, and the device operates within a temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C.

An active LOW reset input allows recovery from situations where an I2C-bus is stuck in a LOW state. The PCA9848PWJ also includes a Power-On Reset (POR) function. It is supplied in a 24-TSSOP package with surface mount mounting type. The switch has low ON resistance and supports hot insertion due to all channels being deselected at power-on. ESD protection exceeds 6000 V HBM and 1000 V CDM.
