The PCA9635PW,118 is an I2C-bus controlled 16-bit LED driver designed by NXP Semiconductors, ideal for Red/Green/Blue/Amber (RGBA) color mixing applications. Each of its 16 outputs features an 8-bit resolution individual PWM controller operating at 97 kHz, allowing for precise brightness control with duty cycles adjustable from 0% to 99.6%. An additional 8-bit group PWM controller enables synchronized dimming or blinking of all LEDs.
The device operates within a supply voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V, with outputs tolerant up to 5.5V. The LED output drivers can be configured as open-drain with a 25 mA current sink capability or totem-pole with 25 mA sink and 10 mA source capability at 5V. The PCA9635 supports Fast-mode Plus (Fm+) I2C-bus interface, operating at frequencies up to 1 MHz, and includes an active LOW Output Enable input (OE) for asynchronous control.
With software-programmable group and sub-call I2C-bus addresses, and seven hardware address pins allowing up to 126 devices on the same bus, the PCA9635PW,118 offers flexible control and integration. It is supplied in a 28-TSSOP package suitable for surface mounting.
