The PCA9634D,118 is an 8-bit LED driver from NXP Semiconductors designed for Red/Green/Blue/Amber (RGBA) color mixing applications. It features individual 8-bit resolution PWM controllers for each LED output, operating at 97 kHz with adjustable duty cycles from 0% to 99.6% for precise brightness control.
An additional 8-bit group PWM controller operates at 190 Hz, allowing for synchronized dimming or blinking of all LEDs. The device supports I2C-bus control and offers flexible output driver configurations, either open-drain with a 25 mA current sink capability or totem-pole with 25 mA sink and 10 mA source capability at 5V. The outputs are 5.5 V tolerant.
Operating within a supply voltage range of 2.3 V to 5.5 V, the PCA9634D,118 is suitable for various lighting applications. It is available in a 20-SOIC package and is designed for surface mount installation. The device also includes an active LOW Output Enable input for asynchronous control and software reset functionality for easy reconfiguration.
