The PALCE16V8-15PC from CYP is an advanced Programmable Logic Device (PLD) built with low-power, high-speed, electrically erasable CMOS technology. It is functionally compatible with all 20-pin GAL devices and can directly replace PAL16R8 devices. The device utilizes a sum-of-products (AND/OR) architecture, allowing users to implement complex logic functions efficiently. The fixed OR array supports up to eight data product terms per output, feeding into macrocells that can be configured as registered or combinatorial outputs with active-high or active-low polarity.
This device offers a 5-ns propagation delay, making it suitable for high-speed applications. The PALCE16V8 family also includes the PALCE16V8Z, a zero-standby power version with a maximum standby current of 30 µA, ideal for battery-powered operation. The programming matrix implements a programmable AND logic array driving a fixed OR logic array. Buffers for device inputs have complementary outputs for user-programmable input signal polarity. Pins 1 and 11 can serve as array inputs or as clock (CLK) and output enable (OE) for flip-flops, respectively.
The PALCE16V8 is designed for easy implementation of logic functions and can be programmed using standard PAL device JEDEC files or the specific PALCE16V8 device code for full macrocell utilization. Its electrically erasable CMOS technology ensures reconfigurable logic and full testability.
