The Littelfuse P4KE24A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning, electrostatic discharge (ESD), and electrical fast transients (EFT).
This device offers a reverse standoff voltage of 20.5V and a clamping voltage of 33.2V at a peak pulse current of 12.3A. It is rated for 400W peak pulse power dissipation (10/1000μs waveform) and 1.5W steady state power dissipation at a lead temperature of 75°C. The diode features a fast response time of typically less than 1.0 ps from 0V to breakdown voltage, and a low incremental surge resistance.
The P4KE24A is housed in a DO-204AL (DO-41) through hole package with axial leads, making it suitable for general purpose circuit protection in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer applications. It is RoHS3 compliant, halogen free, and lead-free (Pb-free E3).
Key design considerations include a maximum forward voltage of 3.5V at 25A (unidirectional only) and a forward surge current capability of 60A (8.3ms single half sine wave). The device operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 175°C, with typical thermal resistance of 60°C/W junction to lead and 100°C/W junction to ambient.
