The P4KE12A is a unidirectional Zener TVS diode from Littelfuse designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning, ESD, and EFT events. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 10.2V and a maximum clamping voltage of 16.7V at a peak pulse current of 24.6A (10/1000μs waveform). The device can handle 400W of peak pulse power dissipation under the same waveform conditions.
This diode offers a fast response time of less than 1.0ps from 0V to breakdown voltage, making it suitable for high-speed data line protection. It is unidirectional with a single channel and is not intended for power line protection. The part is housed in a DO-204AL (DO-41) axial-leaded through-hole package, which allows for easy insertion in PCB or point-to-point wiring.
Electrical characteristics include a maximum forward voltage of 3.5V at 25A (unidirectional only) and a peak forward surge current rating of 60A for an 8.3ms half sine wave. The device operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 175°C and has typical thermal resistance of 60°C/W junction-to-lead and 100°C/W junction-to-ambient. Steady-state power dissipation is 1.5W when mounted on an infinite heat sink at 75°C lead temperature.
