The 3M P-300 is a chemical sorbent accessory designed for effective spill management. It is categorized as a sorbent and is specifically intended for applications related to chemical spill management.
This product is made from inert, synthetic fibers, primarily polypropylene and polyester. It is lightweight, nominally dust-free, and offers a high absorption capacity, which helps minimize waste for disposal. The sorbent is suitable for a wide range of liquids including certain acids, bases, coolants, petroleum-based fluids, non-aggressive chemicals, and aqueous-based solutions. However, users are advised to perform a compatibility test with the specific liquid of interest before use, especially for temperatures over 60°C. It should not be used with concentrated chemicals like oleum, chlorosulphonic acid, liquid bromine, fuming nitric acid, chromic acid, sulfuric acid, and hydrogen peroxide due to the risk of degradation.
While the sorbent itself is not hazardous, it takes on the characteristics of the liquids it adsorbs. Therefore, appropriate precautions and personal protective equipment should be used when handling or storing hazardous or flammable materials. Disposal of used sorbents must comply with local and national regulations. The sorbent can be disposed of by incineration, yielding less than 0.2% ash, and its high energy value is favorable for waste-to-fuel systems.
