The Texas Instruments TPS65313-Q1 is a high-voltage Power Management IC (PMIC) specifically designed to meet the demands of MCU-controlled or DSP-controlled automotive, industrial, machinery, and transportation systems. This device integrates multiple power regulation stages, including a wide-VIN synchronous buck preregulator (BUCK1), a low-voltage synchronous buck regulator (BUCK2), and a boost converter (BOOST).
BUCK1 supports an input voltage range from 4 V to 36 V and can deliver output currents up to 3.1 A, with factory-selectable output voltages of 3.3 V or 3.6 V. BUCK2 operates with a fixed input voltage of 3.3 V or 3.6 V, providing output currents up to 2 A, and offers factory-selectable output voltages including 1.2 V, 1.25 V, 1.8 V, or 2.3 V. The integrated BOOST converter also uses a fixed 3.3 V or 3.6 V input, delivering up to 600 mA at a 5 V output.
Key features across all regulators include soft-start, independent voltage monitoring with diagnostics, and protection against overcurrent, overload, overvoltage, undervoltage, and thermal conditions. The device also incorporates an integrated adaptively randomized spread spectrum (ARSS) modulation for the switching clock, a phase-locked loop (PLL) with an output frequency around 2.2 MHz, and a low quiescent current of 3 µA in the OFF state. It is AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications, operating from -40°C to +125°C, and supports system-level functional safety requirements up to ASIL-C (ISO 26262) and SIL-2 (IEC 61508).
The TPS65313-Q1 is housed in a thermally enhanced 40-pin VQFNP package with a 0.5-mm pitch, measuring 6 mm x 6 mm. Its integration helps reduce board space and system cost, making it suitable for automotive radar and camera applications, automotive sensor fusion, and industrial automation.
