The NX20P3483UKAZ from NXP Semiconductors is a versatile power distribution switch designed for USB Power Delivery (PD) and Type-C applications. It integrates multiple power switches and an LDO to provide comprehensive power management.
The device features a bidirectional high voltage power switch supporting 20V sink and 6V source operations. It can sink up to 5A at 20V and source up to 3.4A at 6V. The switch includes overvoltage protection, reverse current protection, and an adjustable overcurrent limit for source configuration.
A secondary 5V power switch is also included, capable of handling up to 3.4A with adjustable overcurrent limit, ideal diode feature, and short circuit protection. This switch supports fast role swap for USB PD3.0.
Integrated features include a VBUS discharge circuit, slew rate control to minimize inrush current, and over-temperature protection. Control is managed via an I2C-bus interface, allowing flexible configuration and parameter programming. The NX20P3483UKAZ is supplied in a compact 42-WLCSP package, suitable for surface mounting.
Key electrical specifications include a wide VBUS supply voltage range from 2.8V to 20V, V5V from 4.0V to 5.5V, and VDD from 2.7V to 5.5V. The on-resistance is as low as 28mΩ typical for the VBUS to VCHG switch and 38mΩ typical for the 5V to VBUS switch. The integrated LDO provides 100mA for dead battery operation.
