NP2X-BAG Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The Neutrik NP2X-BAG is a heavy-duty, 2-pole, 1/4" professional phone plug with nickel contacts and a black shell. It is part of the X Series, designed to improve upon existing C series plugs by offering the thinnest available A-gauge 1/4" plug with unique Neutrik chuck type strain relief. The slimline shell, with a width of 14.5 mm, meets requirements for high-density jackfields (15.88 mm jack pitch).

This plug features a precise, one-piece machined tip contact without rivets, which prevents hook-up in a socket or breakage of the tip. It is suitable for various applications including guitar cables, audio snakes, speaker connections, amplifiers, and mixing desks.

Key technical specifications include a contact resistance that depends on the mating connector, a dielectric strength of 1 kVdc, and an insulation resistance greater than 2 GΩ. The rated voltage is less than 50 V. Mechanically, it accommodates cable outer diameters from 4 to 7 mm and has a lifetime of over 1000 mating cycles. It supports wire sizes up to 1 mm² or 18 AWG and uses solder contacts for wiring.

The materials used are Polyacetal (POM) + PU for the bushing, Brass (CuZn39Pb3) for the contacts with 2 µm Nickel (Su) plating, Polyamide (PA 6.6 30 % GR) for the insert, and Zinc diecast (ZnAl4Cu1) with KTL coating for the shell. The strain relief is made of Polyacetal (POM). It complies with IEC 60603-11 / EIA RS-453 standards and is solderable according to IEC 68-2-20. The operating temperature range is from -20 °C to +65 °C.
