The NLV14516BDR2G is a synchronous up/down binary counter manufactured by ON Semiconductor. This monolithic integrated circuit is constructed with MOS P-channel and N-channel enhancement mode devices.
Key electrical specifications include a wide supply voltage range from 3 Vdc to 18 Vdc and an operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C. The counter features a maximum count rate of 8 MHz and operates on the positive going edge of the clock signal. It supports both up and down counting directions and has an asynchronous reset function.
This binary counter is suitable for applications such as frequency synthesizers, analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversions, and magnitude and sign generation where low power dissipation and high noise immunity are desired. The device is available in a 16-SOIC package and supports surface mount.
Features include diode protection on all inputs, internally synchronous operation for high speed, and a logic edge-clocked design. The counter can be preset by applying the desired binary value to the preset inputs and enabling the preset enable pin. Cascading is possible by connecting the Carry Out to the Carry In of the next stage.
