The NCV7685DQR2G from ON Semiconductor is a versatile 12-channel linear LED current driver designed for automotive applications. It provides programmable constant current sources with common reference, allowing for precise regulation and control of LED brightness.
Each of the 12 output channels features independent pulse width modulation (PWM) duty cycle control, adjustable via an I2C serial interface. The device supports up to 128 different duty cycle levels and offers on-chip PWM frequencies of 150, 300, 600, and 1200 Hz. A single external resistor can be used to set the current for all channels, with a maximum output current of 60 mA per channel.
Designed for reliability, the NCV7685DQR2G includes open LED string diagnostics with an optional auto-recovery mode, as well as detection and protection against open load, under-voltage, and over-temperature conditions. It also provides a 3.3 V voltage reference for the application.
The IC is available in a compact 24-SSOP-EP package, suitable for surface mount applications. Its NCV prefix indicates qualification for automotive and other applications requiring unique site and control change requirements, including AEC-Q100 qualification and PPAP capability.
