This controller utilizes a current mode control technique based on charge control, integrating oscillator waveforms with switch current information to determine switching frequency. This simplifies feedback loop design and enables true input power limit capability. Features include closed-loop soft-start for monotonic output voltage rise, and adaptive dead-time control to minimize body diode conduction time and maximize efficiency.

 

The NCV4390 supports a wide operating frequency range from 39 kHz to 690 kHz and operates within a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. It includes green functions to improve light-load efficiency, such as symmetric PWM control and disabling SR at light-load conditions. Protection functions with auto-restart are also integrated, including Over-Current Protection (OCP), Output Short Protection (OSP), and Non Zero-Voltage Switching Prevention.

 

Packaged in a 16-SOIC (0.154", 3.90mm Width) surface mount configuration, the NCV4390DR2G is suitable for applications such as automotive on-board chargers and EV high voltage DC/DC converters.
