The ON Semiconductor NCP1410DMR2 is a monolithic micropower high-frequency Boost (step-up) voltage switching converter IC. It is specially designed for battery-operated hand-held electronic products requiring up to 250 mA loading.
This converter integrates a synchronous rectifier (PFET) to improve efficiency and eliminate the need for an external Schottky diode. Its high switching frequency, up to 600 kHz, allows for the use of low-profile inductors and output capacitors. Key features include an adjustable output voltage from 1.5 V to 5.5 V, an output current capability of up to 250 mA, and a low device quiescent supply current of only 9.0 µA typical.
The NCP1410DMR2 also includes value-added features such as a low-battery detector with an open-drain output, logic-controlled shutdown, and cycle-by-cycle current limit. It guarantees a 1.0 V startup at no load and offers a high accuracy reference output of 1.19 V ± 0.6% at 25°C.
Available in a space-saving compact Micro8 package, this device is suitable for applications like Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), handheld digital audio products, camcorders, digital still cameras, and hand-held instruments. It is ideal for conversions from one or two NiMH or NiCd cells, or one Li-ion cell, to 3.3 V or 5.0 V.
